Try LXDE edition. The GNOME Ed, which is to be announced around September, is surprisingly light, too, since it's GNOME Classic. Alternatively you may install GNOME or LXDE or even KDE and install any *box/wm of your choice and switch to it.

You may install in manually from repos - in LXDE no qt package and will not been in future on GTK2 version, because this is KDE-parts.

Yeah, i know those are Kde parts anyway i realy like them...
