Hi

As you can see here, it seems that no more password is required when installing updates. Why ?

I don't know why. On my system in >System settings>System Administration>Configure authentication for ROSA tools 'ROSA update' was set to 'no password' by default. You can change it to 'Root password'.

Why it will be set as 'root only'? - without update system is not secure and has many many errors. Program was installed only root, update will be install by all users.

Personally I'm fine with update being no password. I just posted to point out that it is changeable if one has a reason to do so.

You may change behaviour of tools simple run draksec and set needing permissons of cource.

More than, for now we discuss about enabling 'sudo mode' in ROSA for default..

I'm sure that no-password policy for updates is a right decision. Personally, this makes it a lot easier to update the system. But it could be even better: if we could have a fully automatic update option. Just like in packagekit, where you can set autoupdating and all updates are installed without any prompts, only with ballon notifications. I really need this feature.

Good idea for updating libaries and such stuff, but base user applications should be upgraded explicitly. Take a major versions switch such as from GIMP 2.7.* to GIMP 2.8, for example, how do you imagine doing it in a silent background mode..?

Maybe it'd be good to have special list of such apps: gimp, firefox, libreoffice... I think there are not many of them.

Do you mean using sudo instead of su/su - as Ubuntu does? I don't prefer that myself. However root/system administrator can change to suit if they wish.

One thing I do is after installing an OS with KDE is to run systemsettings as root to, among other things, set window color to Red so gui's opened as root will have a different color (Red) to remind user (Me in this case) to be careful, to know what you're doing, and that changes made are system wide not user only settings. This might be something for ROSA dev's and other Linux distros to consider doing by default.
