If I try File > Open, Inkscape hangs and has to be terminated.

Opening a svgz file in Dolphin with Inkscape 0.48 results in error
Failed to load the requested file /home/user/Documents/default/icons/kget.svgz

Yes, it's a known bug but we didn't find any solution yet. As a workaround, you can change icon theme to Oxygen or anything else that uses .png format for icons instead of .svg.
