ROSA Forum

Currently using (among others) Rosa Marathon 2012 EE x86_64. Thanks for the good work.It's a good system so far and seems in a better state than current Mandriva stable. Also have Mandriva 2010.2, Mandriva "Bernie Lomax" 2012/Cooker, and Fedora 17. Usually will have an openSUSE installed somewhere but don't at the moment.

Don't speak Russian what does POCA mean? What does ROSA mean? ROSA makes me think of a rose. But SE. Louisiana is a long way from Russia in more than one way.

Off topic: Why is every word I type here being underlined as misspelled? Is it my Firefox spellchecker or something to do with language translations stuff? :?

'Роса' means dew in Russian

Was I correct about Rosa? And Москва is Moscow? In what is it cyrillic alphabet?

yes
but ROSA it's just a phonetic transliteration of Russian 'росa'. Note that accent falls on last syllable, it's important. It's not like flower 'la rosa' in Spanish.

For the spellchecker problem in Firefox, go to Preferences>Content>Languages and make sure English is selected. If that doesn't help, it could be in this forum, under "user control panel".

Yes, I picture a rose flower, too due to being more familiar with Spanish. It's always nice when a distro name can mean many things to other people. I also thought of ROSA - Russian Operating System ...couldn't think of what the 'A' stood for.

ROSA - in translate to English - DEW (if translated literally) Just DEW is written in Russian as РОСА(ROSA).

Thanks, PastorDi. And I spent two days looking for a picture of a dew covered rose or dew covered wheat seed head, or dew covered spider web for an avatar but wasn't happy with anything I found, so I chose Mr. Kitty Kat instead. It's an illustration by Hilary Knight from a children's book.
