Upgrade from 11.1 to 12?

Hi,
will there be some automatic upgrade offered for 11.1 to upgrade to 12? Or should I upgrade from iso image? Is the upgrade possible or clean install is needed?

No. Only reinstall from iso.

And if I boot from iso, will it be a upgrade of my 11.1 with all my settings and installed apps or will it do clean install, so that it discards everything old? In other words is upgrade supported?

It is not possible to migrate from one platform to another with a simple upgrade. Only clean reinstall from iso. Most of the settings for your programs are located in /home. When you will reinstall the system, do not format it.
