If the developers want to move forward from GNOME2 without losing the traditional layout, I'd suggest moving to MATE, which I adopted for my Ubuntu desktop (agreed 100% Unity sucks for desktops).

Please try to find the exact model number of your Intel Graphics chipset... When one machine works and the other doesn't, it may be related to hardware. Since you have a graphics problem, this will be important to eliminate first.

I read at distrowatch.org that the ROSA server is based on Red Hat. This makes me wonder if the ROSA server uses the "yum" package manager as found in Red Hat server, or if it uses the "urpmi" package manager?
